As technology evolves, users are confronted with more and more information. Recommendation systems help them sort out this information according to their preferences, using a number of specific techniques. Such systems find their use in all kinds of domains, from music and movies to retail, travel or even financial products. Building a recommender can be achieved by combining data analysis, machine learning and software engineering and we will illustrate this with an example developed in SAP HANA, using the free dataset from IMDb.
